Powerscourt Church Choir
“Make a joyful noise unto the Lord’ Psalm 100
Many of the congregation enjoy the music and singing of our church services and it is indeed an uplifting part of the liturgy.

We are presently looking to increase the membership of the choir and would like to extend an invitation to those who feel they would like to contribute something further to Sunday worship.
The ability to read music is not a fundamental requirement: what we are looking for is a modest commitment to one hour’s rehearsal on Monday evening and the Sunday morning service; occasionally other weekday services, where possible, such as the festivals of Christmas and Easter.
Singing in the choir is an opportunity to enhance your own sense and enjoyment of worship in a friendly and convivial atmosphere with others of like mind.
All ranks are needed and welcome.
If you would like further details please contact Judy Cameron at 2860122 or Breda Lilburn at 2600003

Junior Gospel Choir

Enniskerry Junior Choir have returned since their summer break. Rehearsals are on every Wednesday from 5.45pm-6.45pm and we would welcome any new members at any stage throughout the year, from 1st class upwards.

Entertainments Committee

We were delighted to have a very full house for the ABBA night dinner, Terry and Breda looked wonderful in their outfits. We know everyone had a great night, and it was agreed that we provided excellent value for money by providing a 5 course meal and entertainment for €20 each. Having paid a subscription to the Hall committee to cover the cost of electricity, we stilmade in excess of €1000 profit. In anticipation of this profit we were happy to send a sizable donation to the Fire Fund on 30th October last at a time it was most needed. We will now look at the next venture so will leave you in suspense. Thank you to everyone who supported us on the night.

Mothers Union

On Wednesday 19th February, Diocesan Trustee Ms. Sylvia Graham gave a talk on the work done by MU in the Third World. "Growing the Future Together" is the theme for 2014, she said. She told us that the Literacy & Developement programme is the most successful and is recognised as such even by othercharities and because of that has obtained donations from Comic Relief in the U.K. and from Bishops' Appeal here in Ireland. She said it has been accepted that this programme has reduced infant and maternal mortality by 84 per cent in the countries in Africa where it is taught. We were pleased to welcome Mrs. Jessica Clarke from Wicklow who is taking over this unit from Sylvia when she moves over to deal with Social Policy. After the usual cup of tea and chat a brief meeting was held to allocate stalls at our Annual Sale in April.
DATES FOR YOUR DIARY:
Wednesday 19th March 8pm in the Hall. A talk about massage and Chinese Medicine by Ms Fiona Forsythe.
Saturday April 12th Our Annual Sale from 11.30 am to 2.00 pm in the Hall. Members will be contacted nearer the date re their stall and contributions.

Confirmation

The parish begins its preparation for confirmation on 9th March at 10.00am in the Parish Shed. Those preparing for Confirmation this year will have the privilege of being confirmed in the Cathedral on the Feast of Pentecost, 8th June at 3.30pm. The schedule gives a unique opportunity for the young people to prepare during the traditional church year
in the seasons of Lent, Holy Week and Easter, Ascension & Pentecost. Preparation sessions will take place every Sunday at 10.00am in the Parish Shed followed by Church Service at 11.30am. The preparation time will also include outings and days away. Holy Week and Easter will be a very special time and will include First Holy Communion at the Sonrise Service on Easter morning.

Table Tennis

We are open for bookings for weddings and memorial flowers and are now about to produce the new list of Sundays flower arrangers. If anyone would like to join the volunteers for Sunday flowers we would love to hear from you. The flowers are normally prepared on Saturday and take about three bunches plus foliage, You will only be asked to work once or twice a year, so its not too arduous. Do think about it and let us know if you can join in.

Parish Vestry

EASTER GENERAL VESTRIES
Easter being somewhat later than usual this year, it has been decided to hold these meetings prior to, rather than after the festival. These will take place in Powerscourt on Tuesday 8th April and in Kilbride on Thursday 10th April. All parishioners are strongly encouraged to come to these "parish a.g.m.s" which are opportunities not just to hear what is happening or what we hope will happen in the coming year but also to make a real contribution to the running of the parish and to having a say in its outreach and ministry.
Powerscourt: Tuesday 8th April at 8.00pm in the School Hall
Kilbride: Thursday 10th April at 8.00pm in Kilbride Parish Room.
This is a triennial election year, so please make a special effort to be present.
