It is quite remarkable how quickly this year has\npassed, and Christmas is now upon us.  We\nlook forward to the quiet reflective time of Advent where we \u2018watch and wait\u2019\nfor the coming of God\u2019s light into the world as we remember the nativity.  This year, we are attempting to begin a new\ntradition in the village, in the form of an Ecumenical walk from St. Mary\u2019s\nChurch through the village and up to Powerscourt Church.  We will accompany Mary and Joseph and their\ndonkey past Inns which will close their doors on the Holy Family until they\nsafely rest in a live crib at St. Patrick\u2019s Powerscourt.  This event is part of an afternoon Christmas\nFair which takes place in Powerscourt N.S. (to allow for unpredictable weather\nconditions).  We invite all those who may\nhave crafts, cakes or anything that might be sold, to come forward and contact\nthe school regarding a stall at this event. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

As mentioned, Advent is a reflective time and I am pleased to invite you all to attend three Wednesday Evenings in December (4th<\/sup>, 11th<\/sup>, 18th<\/sup>) simply called \u2018Peace \u2013 Learning to Sit with God\u2019.\u00a0 This quiet time will encourage those who attend to sit quietly with a piece of read Scripture, recognising God\u2019s presence as they step out of the busy preparations for Christmas.\u00a0 Further details on the \u2018Peace\u2019 will follow shortly.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

SIZZEL SERVICE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

There will be a sizzle service this Sunday the 24th<\/sup> at 5.30 in St. Patricks Church.\u00a0 Sausages will be served after the service.\u00a0 All are welcome to this family friendly service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

KILBRIDE\nNEWS <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many thanks\nto everyone who was going to support the supper dance this year which\nunfortunately had to be cancelled.  The supper dances had been\nrun for over thirty years and our thanks to everyone who supported them down\nthrough the years.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nfashion show in Fishers on the 14th November was a wonderful night.  Many\nthanks to the models – Cathy & Ed Hallissey, Patricia Armstong, Jenna\nRothwell, Ruth Gyves, Joyce Roe, Georgina Masterson, Rory Connaughton, Ricky\nRountree and Stephen Middleton.  Thanks to everyone for their support and\nto anyone who provided a raffle prize.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A\nbelated thank you to everyone who provided flowers, fruit and vegetables\nfor the decoration of the church for Harvest Thanksgiving in October.  A\nspecial word of thanks to Breda Lilburn who came along to help with the flower\narranging.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kilbride\ncarol service will be on Sunday 15th December at 10a.m.   The church\nwill be decorated and given a “Spring clean” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

for\nthe Christmas festival on Saturday 21st December at 10a.m. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nnext meeting of Kilbride Vestry will be on the 29th January 2020 at 8p.m. in\nthe Parish Room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We will close on December 13th\nfor the Christmas break and on our last Friday we hope to have Jackey and her\nsingers to join us for Carols, they have been coming to us each Christmas since\nour first year and we all look forward to it and will have our friends from\nKilmac to join us to make it a bit more fun.    We will return\nto the hall on Jan 11th if it is not snowed up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Memorial Flowers in\nDecember will by Mrs. Ross on 1st and by Mrs. Bass on 8th<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If anyone would like to have memorial flowers on any Sunday,\nwe will be delighted to hear from you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are also still open for bookings for wedding flowers and will be delighted to hear from any couples planning to marry in the coming year.\u00a0 Our\u00a0prices are very competitive, and we can also supply the red carpet for the occasion. As all our work is voluntary and we supply our own greenery.\u00a0 all profits we make are then saved to use for parish projects, so all is\u00a0put to a very good use to enhance the church and grounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The children made and presented a beautiful wreath of poppies for Remembrance Sunday during November, now on display at the front of the Church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our next class, and last for\n2019, will be on Sunday 1st<\/sup> December \u2013 please note we will meet in\nChurch at 11.25 as we will be reading the prayer and lighting the first Advent\ncandle before we leave the service to go over to the School Hall where we will\nbe making some Christmas decorations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
