Please drop your children ( Junior Infants to 2nd Class) at the Hall on way to Church and pick up afterwards. The senior section is not yet organised for the year. Enniskerry Youth Festival 7th to 11th OctoberTable tennis is on Mondays at 8.30pm in the Parochial Hall. If you would like to join us call Elizabeth on 2863534, or just turn up on any Monday evening. Our Branch paid two visits to Christchurch Cathedral in September. On Thursday 3rd eight of us went to the Holy Communion celebrated
by our Diocesan Chaplain Rev. Paul Houston. We were welcomed warmly by the Dean “our own” Rev. Dermot Dunne who joined us for a cup
of tae after the Service. It was a good opportunity to purchase items from the M.U. Enterprise Stall. Jean Denner sets it up after
the Service each month. We then went across the road to the nearby “Bull and Castle” where we had an excellent lunch. We were
delighted our Diocesan President, Ann Walsh and former Diocesan President, Aileen White, were able to join with us there.
(Aileen is the member who initiated the Baby Bonnet and Blanket Scheme which has brought comfort to many grieving parents.)
Many thanks to Elizabeth Rountree and Heather O’Connell who drove into the city from Enniskerry.
We also attended the Diocesan Festival Service on Tuesday 15th. Ann Walsh had requested that branches that had banners bring them early to the Cathedral and place them at the back near the door so that members could enjoy the lovely needlework on so many of them, and I overhead complimentary remarks about ours. Our All Ireland President, Margaret Crawford, gave the sermon on the theme “Cost of Relationship” during which she said that Relationship with God is at the heart of all Mothers’ Union work. Archbishop John Neill was the Celebrant and he was assisted by several clergy among them M.U. members Canon Katherine Poulton and Reverend Aisling Shine. A cup of tea in the M.U. Chapel enabled us to meet up and chat to friends from other branches. Thanks to Elizabeth, Jacinta and Barbara who drove in from Enniskerry to the Cathedral. Members should have now received the 2009 / 2010 schedule either in the post or by hand but if you haven’t yet got one please let me know @ 2760284. Do remember to ask Valerie King to let you see the M.U. catalogue before you start your Christmas shopping, as there are many beautiful items in it that are very suitable for gifts and Valerie is always glad to order anything from the brochure when asked. Dates for your Diary Thursday October 22nd @ 8.00 pm in Kilbride Church – our Opening Service. There will be tea / coffee after the service in the room at the back of the church.
